[Vivian's in the kitchen, making a snack for herself after waking up in the middle of the night to discover that she felt quite hungry. She could have just as easily asked for the castle to give her something but making it herself would be more of an accomplishment in Vivian's opinion ( Read more... )

[ Piper can't sleep. Usually, she would wish up the things she wanted to eat or drink, but she finds that taking a walk in the dark will help her restless brain calm down enough to allow sleep to consume her. So she finds herself walking to the kitchen, far away from her own room, as she desires a glass of water, at best, and a peek in the fridge. She's always loved the kitchen and she finds that this habit, though it hibernated for a long time during the past three years, still has her held tightly in its clutches. She spots Vivian, stopping in her tracks for a moment before moving further into the kitchen, grabbing a glass and turning on the tap ] Hi. Couldn't sleep - thought I'd come and grab a glass of water.

[Vivian stops what she's doing and looks up at the other woman, smiling at her. She's got a bag of cookies in her hand and she sets them beside her tea.]

Hello Piper. Good to meet you in person. I just wanted to appease my sweet tooth.

Vivian. [ Piper smiles ] Ah, the sweet tooth. I'm ashamed to say I've been ignoring mine when it calls at these odd hours of the night. [ She moves away from the sink and towards the table. ] I bet you get this quite a lot, but I can definitely see now where everyone was confusing you with another resident. Did you ever manage to meet the other woman?

I can never ignore my sweet tooth, just too much of a temptation really. Even if is really late and not a wise idea. [She replies with a slight shrug of her shoulders.] Yeah. But I'm slowly getting used to it really. However, I'd like to be known for me and not who I look like, you know? Sorry if that sounds a bit defensive.

[Vivian shakes her head.] No, I didn't. But I met a man who knew Bela recently.

As for the other woman-Rose, well, that's a bit more interesting. I encountered her ex-boyfriend who just so happens to be a vampire. One of those dangerous, bad-boy types but absolutely gorgeous.

No, I completely understand. [ She gives her a smile ] Must be annoying, huh? Being told you look like a resident here. It'd definitely grate my nerves.

[ Piper grins, raising her eyebrows ] Doesn't sound too bad, I guess. Now you're making me wish I had a lookalike running around the castle. [ She laughs. ]

It's a little annoying, but there are worse things.

[She takes a sip from her tea.] It wasn't completely bad, I mean, you should see his eyes; so incredibly blue. [Vivian laughs along.] Not that I'm looking for a relationship or anything, just a little harmless flirtation.

Considering we're stuck in a castle that likes to turn the tables on us every few weeks, harmless flirtation doesn't seem to prove a big risk when compared to the boredom I suffer here. [ At her own hands, but let's not get into that quite yet. ] Have you been into town?

No, I haven't been in town yet. I was a little wary of leaving the castle you see. Is there anything interesting to do there?

I wish I could be more help, but I haven't been comfortable enough to leave the castle yet. As much as I hate this place and want out, I'd rather be in here than out there. The lesser of two evils for me.

But I hear a few residents have relocated out there. And there are businesses and I assume places to wine and dine.

I feel the exact same way. Until I'm comfortable enough with being in the castle, I'm not going to venture outside. Besides, I wouldn't really want to go out by myself either.

Yeah, I heard talk about that. Maybe those people who have set them up have been here longer.

[ Piper places her hand to her chest, smiling with a laugh ] I thought I was crazy for not wanting to venture outside of the castle. Everyone here - new or old - seems to be all for it. But I always had reservations about it. Simply leaving my room was the biggest step for me.

I still can't quite fathom the idea of some residents being here for years. I can't believe I've been here for over a month.

Oh, no, far from crazy. I'd say it would be more sensible. I think that people just want to get away from here since it likes to mess with them. Maybe we should both try and go out of the castle. Together, even. Safety in numbers and all that.

Hasn't even been a month for me yet, so I'm still surprised I've managed to make it so far.

I wonder how far the castle's power extends? And I'd be up for that.

Every day is a surprise - considering how this castle tends to pick on individuals sometimes.

Goodness only knows how far it does. And brilliant. If we find a cafe, we could chat over a cup of tea or coffee if you prefer.

You mean with the losses and everything?
