[ Piper shrugs ] Maybe if it were giving us the finger, then it'd just look plain normal. [ She hates this freaking island. ] I'm just glad it's not a face.

[laughs slightly]

Good point. I think I'd turn around and leave if it were doing that though ... or if it were a face. [shudder]

There aren't many faces that would look good carved into a rock. Sorry, George Clooney, but you just don't make the cut.

I'm Piper, by the way.

((lmfao he just introduced himself finally in the other thread. OH WELL /HANDWAVE))

[he actually laughs out loud, crossing his arms and turning to look at her]

I'm Rory. Probably should have introduced myself on the ship, yeah?

( don't worry, introducing themselves twice is the start to a beautiful friendship? :P )

I'm Piper. It's a big ship with a lot of crap going on - I'm surprised I even remembered the captain's name. [ Cue a sigh ] It would've been helpful if the castle gave us name tags. But even then, I probably wouldn't bother reading them.

((I think I will run with that. :D))

Yeah, it's a lot of people to keep up with ... and I'm horrible with names. So usually I just try and remember faces, and then act like I remember their names, without trying to bring it up. [makes a funny face] Doesn't always work.

[ Piper laughs ] I bet. It's worse when they know your name and you have no freaking clue what theirs is. But you're not alone with your method - I try and get their name out of them somehow. It was much easier in school as everyone had their name on half of their things.

Or they mispronounce your name. I always find that to be the absolute worst thing ever.

At least at the hospital back home, we all wore IDs, and all the patients had their names on their charts. I could sneak a look if I had to.

[looks over at her]

Does yours get mispronounced a lot then?

I'm glad I own a small club with a few staff. I worked in a restaurant for a while and I could barely remember half of the names there. A lot of people come and go.

I get Pippa sometimes.

Pippa? [frown, like that sounds ridiculous to him] Like Kate's sister?

[ Piper frowns. If there's another Piper in this godforsaken place ... ] Who's Kate?

[he blinks, like he's realizing he made an oops]

Oh--sorry. I meant Kate--Kate Middleton. She's engaged to marry our Prince William back home--in England--and she's got a sister named Pippa. [slight eyeroll] My stepmum is all about the royals, you'd think they were the most perfect human beings on Earth, listening to her.

[then he makes a slight face like--maybe he's just made an idiot of himself--and clears his throat slightly]

Oh, right. Your stepmum and my sister may get along. She will be sorely upset to know he's engaged. [ She gives him a sympathetic smile. This castle can most definitely be a bitch ] I'm from 2001 and the only thing I know about Prince William is that he's the [ airquotes ] "good-looking one" [ /airquotes ]

2001, really? [he is ... not going to think about how old he was in 2001. Those were the awkward teenage years] I, uh, wouldn't know anything about William being the 'good-looking one' ... all I know is Amy--my wife--if they ever show up on the news she says she fancies Harry a bit. Probably because he's a bit of a bad boy. [another eyeroll]

May, 2001, if I remember correctly. It wasn't such a bad year. [ Though ... she can't exactly remember why, but it was better than the last two, so that's something. ] Ah, the bad boys. They do screw you over in the end. [ Or try to kill you. ] I don't like either of them.

What year do you come from?

nurse_boy June 29 2011, 17:31:01 UTC
Nah, it wasn't that bad, not really. [as if there's much good about being a terribly insecure and shy sixteen-year-old boy] I'm from 2010 myself, June, so ... a little further on from you. Bit of a busy year for me.
