[Kaylee had spent the afternoon in town, trying to find a good place to set up with a new workshop...somewhere out of the castle and, hopefully, away from the ire of the First Gens if they chose to return for a second round of havoc. After hours, there were two dilemmas that needed sorting

[It seemed Kaylee had a younger twin out and about that day, looking for a mechanic to apply for a job. With a smudge of grease on her cheek from tinkering with an engine she'd built this past weekend, she accidently ran into the girl, literally.]

Oh, pardon me. Sorry, there. Got distracted. [It was rare that she was, but this was her first time actually in the city. Sure, she travelled to Lente's Point and wandered about the castle, but this was all very knew.]

[putting hands on the girl's shoulders to catch her, she smiles] It ain't no worry. I don't s'pose I was payin' all that much attention myself.

[She straightens and pushes some of her hair out of her eyes.] Seems like we both weren't. Interesting place and all.

no worries! I'm on hiatus, so I'll be slow, too.

It can be pretty interestin', though I was more lookin' for somethin' specific.

What were you looking for?

[She nods.] I suppose I'm still counted as new. I arrived before the expidition, but was sidetracked with that. And then the pirate ship. I haven't had a proper chance to explore.

I was lookin' for a place to set up a workshop, of sorts. 'Course, then there's the problem of affordin' it, once I find one.

...Yeah. Guess that means you've been explorin' everywhere except the castle and town.

A work shop? What'd you do? [Curious Violet is curious.]

Yes. It's been pretty interesting. But I'm to understand we spend most of our time here, so I should become acclimated with my surroundings.

I'm a mechanic. Used t'be a ship mechanic, when I had a ship to work on. Mostly here I'm just workin' on odds and ends, fillin' the time.

Most of our time here? In town? [she glances around] I suppose that's true of some folks, but there ain't nothin' sayin' you can't stay at the castle as much as you want.

Oh how interesting! I'm an amateur inventor myself.

No, I meant here or in the castle, but I'm not entirely pleased with the idea of being confined if given another opportunity.

Are you? [it's not a disbelieving question. If there's one thing she knows about, it's being young and female with a love of machines] What sort of inventin'?

All sorts of things. Anything I had to. Here's been a bit different. I took a part the microwave, and I'm working on an engine in my room. I've been reading up on more modern technology, things they didn't have in the 1930s.

[onemanshort]

Aiya...1930s?

[she grins] Oh, sweetie...I got a few things you might wanna see, then.

It's when I'm from.

Oh? What kind of things? [Violet is very interested now.]

I'm...a bit later'n you. [smiling]

I'd say I'd like to show you Serenity...but since she ain't here, I can at least show you the Mule.

You ever been in anythin' that can fly? Or...well...hover, at least?

Most people are. But it's okay. I think it's pretty interesting, actually.

[She shook her head.] Can't say I have. Travelled by train well enough though.

Well, this ain't nothin' like a train.

[a grin] You doin' anything now? I ain't had a whole lotta luck searchin' for a new spot, and I'm figurin' a break would be pretty welcome right about now.
