[Since Violet and Percy had the great idea of chariot races, she figured it would be a good idea to see about interest. She's currently in her room when she pulls out her journal.]

Catagorizing things to do, I'd wish to learn a new hobby or acquire a new skill. Though my writing seems off at the moment.

[She blinks... this is a code. She's ( Read more... )

[While sitting around and just looking through the journal trying to see what all else he could learn, he hears her. And while he doesn't KNOW her, well he can't let a good mystery go by him and codes are one mystery he does enjoy figuring out. So with a bit of time he figures it out and finally decides to speak.]

You, seem to have a bit of a problem miss, and it extends to both your writing and speaking yes?

And you speak in different codes each time...

[He mutters that as he works on the new code, and just sighs when he figures it out. Yes he likes the mental work out but just one word?]

I do not, suppose you've tried, maybe, drawing? Its not writing or speaking, and may take a little guess work, but it, may enable you to talk somehow.

And how terribly rude of me, I didn't even introduce myself, I'm well just for now call me James. Easier to put in code.

((ooc: This is fun just so you know lol. I like learning new codes.))

[All that comes out is pigpen cipher when she tries to draw. In this cipher, she tries to tell him that she is sorry for making him work, and that her name is Violet.]

ooc: I like ciphers and codes, too.

[Well he did ask her to try so he really can't be surprised at seeing the cipher. So he just sighs and goes to work figuring it out, chuckling a little at the message.]

Well it is a pleasure to meet you, and its no bother at all the work. I like solving things, its part of what I do best. Though I will admit, this has me entirely stumped, at least on how to get around it.

[Okay this one has him stumped for a while, and he goes quiet for a bit as he works on it, but then finally there's a quiet Aha! As he figures it out. At least he hopes he does.]

I..wonder, what would happen if say, someone communicated with you in code? That, is the only way I can see getting around it, but it's not very practical.

Indeed, well at least you will have the chance to get to know those who can understand you at least? There is usually an upside to these sorts of things.

[This one, this one takes him by surprise for a moment, mostly as while he knows it, well its not something he's very well practiced in. But he eventually fiddles around with it, and figures it all out, after a rather long pause.]

Ahh now see, in my world codes are used to secret information away and such, but important? Well I wouldn't say that, more of a novelty really. Now, you said they were important though in your world, may I ask how or why?

As they have my own on numerous occasions...coupled with say, a telegram or telegraph, codes are far more secure in my world with the right people then our more normal forms of communication.

[In pigpen cipher, she replies:

Same with my world. Certain people can never know certain information. Codes are important for that.]

[Quietly hmm's as he figures out the message.]

Yes yes they are. As are secure forms of communication, which is the problem in my world. We have advanced so far that our forms of communication can be easily cracked, and codes? They can as well.
