Now, to move on to more urgent matters.

The secondary goal of this council is to defend the residents. With the current looming threat of Riful and her allies, it seems fairly obvious to me that now is the time to act in that regard. I realize this isn't the goal of everyone involved, but keep in mind that she threatens everyone in this castle...including you. That said, we are up against a substantial adversary.

I'm afraid the information I have on Riful herself is less than adequate. Apparently she is capable of transforming herself in a creature of truly alarming size, with a hide that is incredibly hard to cut or injure. I believe some of her flesh, was found recently. What I am unclear on, however, is how resistant she might be to magic.

Yuan, is there anything else you might have to add to that?

If there is any ideas on how we might assist in stopping her, now is the time to discuss it.

[Yuan shakes his head.] Not a whole lot. I haven't yet tested my own magic on any flesh samples, although I understand the Doctor did find a way to cut them more easily eventually - a plasma weapon, I think it was called.

From my experience with creatures in my own world, monsters that are strong against physical attacks are usually more vulnerable to magic, but I certainly can't guarantee any such thing with Riful. And the flesh taken from her body might have deteriorated, but it's worth a try, I think, to see if any of the kinds of magic we have gathered here have an effect.

It could be worth a try, but at most all we'd be able to determine is how her flesh reacts to simple energies. More complex magic such as wards or charms, or anything that isn't meant to do damage really cannot be tested on her body or any remnants thereof.

The Doctor still has the samples, yes?

I can't imagine he'd have done away with them. Wards and charms are outside my experience in any case, so you'll have to consult with others - all my spells are energy-based. [Simple energies, indeed. Hmph.]

Well if you're loathed to use wards or charms has anyone tried any hexes then?

[Felix gives him a look. Grow a sense of humor.]

I'm not sure I know what the differentiation would be. Do you think a hex could be tested upon just a piece of her body?

[Shrugs and looks back at him]

You could see if it breaks or burns the skin.

Can you think of any such hexes that would do such a thing? [Intense look of interest]

A few, of course. There's usually a spell for pretty much anything.

I was hoping for specifics. Anything I might be able to replicate or use to assist our front line. I don't know about you, but I have no intention of getting close to her or any of her allies unless I have no choice.

[He swallowed softly and played with his wand a little before nodding]

I know one that will slice someone quite viciously, if you want it.
