Once you arrive at Chimera headquarters, you are directed into the office, where the other members, old and new, start to gather.
Felix is off to the side for now, leaning back against a desk with a stack of notebooks dominating the surface, and watching everyone like the lord of a rather tiny domain.
[That makes him straighten up and look more professional.] ...Technically, Tony Stark runs it, but he's on extended vacation, and I've been taking charge of the meetings. [Even since before Tony went on vacation, actually.]
[Yuan nods.] I'm aware, yes. And we'd certainly be glad for the help. I'm actually here partly as the Patrol's liaison with Chimera, although I'm also a spellcaster myself.
We should be having a meeting later this month. I'll be sure to drop you a note when it's coming up.
[That makes him smile a bit.] I can understand the adjustment. It's the same for many people who come here - it takes time to realize that whatever you might have been at home, society here plays by different rules.
[nod] We've gotten into a lot of trouble back home when our magic comes to light. It's refreshing, really. And during that whole... pirate... thing, I used magic during the battle to save the ship and people were amazed and thankful rather than fearful.
[It brings to mind Paige's fantasy world in which she was accepted and praised for her magic. Of course, that had been an illusion conjured by a demon. Not one of his- no, Chris'- finer moments.]
People here who fear or dislike magic are certainly in the minority. You're more likely to be outright disbelieved and informed that 'magic' is just a word for what science hasn't yet explained.
Exactly. [Yuan nods firmly.] Magic has long been studied by scientists in my world, as a phenomenon unto itself. The problem is with scientists who refuse to acknowledge that possibility, or mages who don't believe in studying magic scientifically.
[she blinks and laughs, raising her hands in surrender] Alright, alright. I'll give you that.
Magic just isn't looked at that way in my world. It's just part of nature. I mean, I know there's something in our blood... that was a hell of a mess when we found that one out... but we just can't risk exposure to have it looked at by scientists. I've traveled to an alternate future where my magic is exposed and I was burned at the stake.
[Felix blinks] That is...regrettable...though I can understand how that would happen.
That isn't to say that it cannot be studied. If it is a part of nature, then it can be studied just like any other aspect of it. Maybe, in your world, they are simply not ready to do so.
[Yuan nods.] And it could be studied here, if you're willing. ...It shouldn't fall under Personal Gain if it's to improve everyone's understanding. [Probably.]
Oh, I know they're not ready for magic. It's too dangerous for them to find out... as unfortunate as that is.
But... I would be willing to try. [shrugs and smiles at Yuan] It could be interesting. And, no, I don't think that would count as Personal Gain since I wouldn't be gaining anything from it beyond more knowledge about witchcraft.
[After a nod of greeting to Felix, Galadriel will find a seat and quietly observe people mingling. It's more than just idle people watching, but one wouldn't necessarily know that, unless they noticed the sharpness of her gaze.]

Feel free to mingle.

[He sounds vaguely annoyed by that.]
