If this is some kind of joke or trick I am highly unimpressed. Whatever answers there are, and however you have tampered with my memories, I would appreciate being informed of them.

[ Helen's seen the book, seen it write down her words and flicked the previous pages to see her own words there... but ones that she doesn't remember speaking and ( Read more... )

[Oh...this is great. He recognizes that voice, and he also knows that he's dead more then likely in her time and the idea of giving her a heart attack is really not all that appealing mostly as he's convinced Nikola will kill him and he would be the one taking care of her in the clinic in the off chance he survived that encounter so how to go about this?

Well you remember that Bavarian accent he botched back in France? Well he's gotten in some practice with it and is now using it. Baby steps, right?]

Well if you don't believe the book it is rather simple. You are in, Paradisa, where things that are not are and you have been, for lack of a better word kidnapped.

[ That... certainly makes her stop. Oh she knows that voice, particularly that accent - it's improved a little - but it's even more impossible than any of her ideas put together. Well... anything that could access her memories via telepathy - Sally was the strongest form of that she'd encountered (at least recently) but... How. That was the thing burning in her mind ]

And taking the persona of someone that should not be is supposed to be an attempt to impress that? [ So unimpressed ]

[Damn, that was a total failure but at least he had tried. So he has some work to do, he'll work on that one later, as he's busy cleaning up the clinic some after the big battle earlier and all. So its back to his normal British accent, shaking his head some.]

This someone who should not be is rather alive thank you Helen, but you could say that yes. [You could be nice you know he's not dead. But a sigh.] Where are you? I'll come down and see you once I'm done in the clinic.

[ It could certainly have gone worse had it not been him and she would be nice if she actually believe it was him. She knows that Nikola is - or has been here, if she believes the book, which she'd rather not do. But James? Bringing him back alive? It's something else ]

I'd prefer a different location. [ She would be at a disadvantage wherever she was but at least she could perhaps learn something about where she was whilst finding it ]

[Hey he got a warmer welcome from Nikola okay? But well its only to be expected, he wouldn't believe it either really at first.]

How about the lobby then? Unless that's where you are now, but its not terribly far from where I am. On the off chance you feel like running after thinking I'm some sort of brain sucking Abnormal, you could. [Because its Helen and he wouldn't put much past her right now.]

Alright, the lobby it is. [ Perhaps she'd be able to pick something up along the way, also - she didn't like the idea of being entirely defenceless

She closed the book, slipping it inside her jacket and left the room in search of the lobby. Any that she past she tried not to make too much eye contact with, hoping to slip down easily

And that she did. She'd taken a few wrong turns along the way, picked up more than a few impressions and ideas of where she was but eventually she made it, looking around the vast lobby to cover all of her exits and for the source of the voice - which wasn't quite so simple with the people walking through. Part of her hoped, almost vainly, to see James, that it was truly him but then she had to remind herself of how impossible it was. But then the impossibility of this resurfaced in her mind and she hoped again ]

[He's up in the clinic but after hearing that, he finishes up what little work he had been up to and soon goes down to the lobby, not all that certain where she was but he figures he can beat her there.

Which he does and he's sitting in a chair facing the stairs, hands steepled in front of his face as he waits for her. His clothes are rather rumpled and he's lacking a jacket and his exosuit but otherwise its as if he had just been pulled from Bhalasam, sans the advanced aging bit. And he see's her but he's but he's quiet as he shifts a suspendor strap better on his shoulder and wait, just smiling as he sits up.]

Helen!

[ Her head turns, ears following the recognised sound. It was enough to hear the voice but to see him... ]

My God, James? [ She hesitates before stepping towards him, surprise keeping her cautious ] Tell me that this isn't a trick.

[He just smiles more at her and finally stands up with a grunt still not used to his lack of a suit yet, and having taken care of the clinic the last couple of days, well he was in some amount of pain.]

Yes, its me Helen. Its no trick, its no illusion or mental game or telepathic construct in your head. At least if it is, then its shared over the course of many worlds and many different times. [He's not going to hug or touch her yet, he'll let her make the move for now.]

[ She looks at him silently, taking in his appearance before placing her hands to his face. He truly was here, alive, and it gave her a sigh of sort of relief ]

You're all right... and without your suit. James, what is this, honestly?

[He just smiles at her more and doesn't fight the touch, really he's sort of missed it.]

Yes I'm alright, and my suit...well. This place is Paradisa as I said before, its both the castle here, and the world. Its some sort of, other dimension I think, that brings people here through, teleportation or something.

longaevus August 15 2011, 21:25:01 UTC
Another dimension? [ She's processing. The physics of it... she's never had to think of anything akin to this before ] Before coming here I'd been working with Nikola on a map, one which lead to an ancient city. We hadn't yet discovered where. I'd be naive to believe that this was it but perhaps something similar? If not another dimension than one simply intricately hidden?

jamesholmes August 15 2011, 21:29:58 UTC
[Welcome to how James's mind works, he's been working on that theory for a bit and his other one. But now its his turn to process the information and he's nodding slowly.] Yes, it could be a hidden world or place, yes. But how then do you explain the other inhabitants here? There's not only us and Nikola, [Said with some distaste.] but also others who are from, other worlds I have talked with. Perhaps an intricately hidden world, with trans-world teleportation or trans-dimensional?

[ There is some mental eyerolling at that distaste. Boys, honestly ] I noticed others but did not question that they were not originally from here. It's an understatement to say that the theory needs some revisions.

jamesholmes August 15 2011, 21:45:13 UTC
[After recent events he has every right to that tone of voice Helen.] Then you didn't run into those that I have then when I first got here. But yes the theory does need some revisions.

[He waves her towards a chair near his own.] But do you mind if we continue this discussion while sitting? I have been in the clinic and my body isn't what it was.

longaevus August 15 2011, 22:06:40 UTC
[ She'll still eyeroll. She did then and she does now

She gives him a nod, letting a hand rest on his arm ] How are you? Your mind is as it always has been but- [ She hopes that he doesn't know, especially not remember if only for kindness ] You've been with your suit for years.
