[Dictated but he sounds rather tired and the sound of a scratching pen on paper can be heard to.]

I would like to join your, organization. I'm James Watson, back in my world I was, the head of a branch of an organization that provided sanctuary to creatures in need and housed others who posed a danger to the world at large. I also studied those creatures and beings as well as treated them and others medically speaking. Scientist, medical doctor, a detective as well.

Welcome to the Patrol, Dr. Watson. Things are a bit in chaos at the moment, but we're having a meeting on Friday at noon which will help to sort them out. It's at the Patrol headquarters, down in the castle basement.

Your work at home sounds fascinating, and I'd love to hear more about the kind of beings you encountered. Is your world familiar with magic as such?

So I've noticed, I've been helping in the clinic whenever possible to try and clean things up as such. I'll be sure to be there Friday.

I am more then happy to discuss my work with you if you like. We are not familiar with magic, every creature in my world is a genetic offshoot of something or another. Or is the result of genetic tampering.

Interesting. I asked because we also have a magic council, dedicated to studying spellcasting from the different worlds found here, but I suppose that's not as relevant to your field as I'd hoped.

My world is familiar somewhat with genetics and racial crossbreeding [says the half-elf] - although modification is restricted to a few basic techniques. Is it mostly humans in your world, or are there other races as well?

Well, in a way, spellcasting, at least in my world, could fall under my study. If the person was willing, to let me study them, of course. [Helen had yelled at him about dismissing magic outright, he's trying to be accommodating.]

Genetic modification, on the molecular artificial level in my world is confined to high end laboratories run by governments and private companies for the most part. [Or five ambitious Oxford students...] My world has a number of genetic offshoots of both humans and animals or some combination there of, that most see as monsters unfortunately. I study them, give them sanctuary, and aide their relations wherever possible with both humans and other abnormals as we call them.

If that's the case, you might want to talk to Felix Harrowgate about Chimera - that's the name of the magic council. There are a good number of mages involved, but not as many with any scientific background to speak of. [Yuan, on the other hand, acts as if there's no inherent functional difference between science and magic...]

Humans. Some things never change, do they? ...Not that elves or half-elves are any better about accepting others, when it comes down to it, and those are the three most prevalent races of my world. It's good of you to provide a sanctuary from that, at least.

I have already spoken with him actually, when I first arrived here. He's offered me the chance to study his magic if I would like. [And James would like to think the same really, that magic is just a term used when someone can not think of a proper scientific explanation.]

Sadly no, humans rarely change for the better even with time. But that is an awful lot like many abnormal species, or they are outright hostile like the majority of humans. But it is good work yes, not my idea however, I just, offered my aide to a good friend. She started it with an idea from her father.

[They will wind up having Discussions about that - in Yuan's world, magic is not so much 'unexplained by science' as 'a branch of scientific study'. But it's a battle he's used to fighting, here.]

I see. Still, as someone who's faced down that kind of hostility, it's always good to know that people in other worlds are making an effort, regardless of the inspiration.

[James is always up for discussions about something new. It keeps him from dwelling on things he can't change. The more complex the better.]

As have I, both before the Sanctuary Network was created and after. Without an effort to teach, and aide others, there truly is only war looming on the horizon.

...Indeed. And that's...never productive. [That struck a nerve - but in a good way. Yuan is suitably impressed.]

No, no it's not. Too many things are lost with war, too much pain. [And that's said with a touch of bitterness. He's not out to impress, just speaking to what he holds true to.]
