[it's been a little while, but yet again, at ten, "Everybody Knows" comes wafting over the journals. Harry's kind to his record this week and doesn't scratch the needle over the vinyl - he just lifts it off, and lets silence reign over the journal for a good twenty seconds or so. long enough to make people wonder if he's actually going to open ( Read more... )

I'm just glad all that bullshit is over. It was fine at first but if I had to put up with one more day of some of the crap in there... [YOUR OTHER SELF ACTING LIKE A JEALOUS GIRLFRIEND IS ANNOYING :/]

Tell me about it. [at least yours wasn't bitching out all your friends like a total jackass?]

... Hey, you never told me that original thought you had, 'couple weeks ago.

Huh? Oh that? I'm surprised you remembered.

[well shit] You were one of the few, the proud, the English-speaking, that day. Not many people piped up. So of course I remembered! D'you remember what it was?

Haha, if you can even call that "English speaking"!

Uh... hmmm... let's see... it was probably something about society or whatever.

I understood it, it counts! ... Okay. So, give it your best shot. Or come up with a new one. I'm still always on the lookout for good, original thoughts outta people.

Hmmm... okay. How about this?

Wouldn't the world be a much better place if we didn't have to hide everything? If we could just be ourselves, including the parts society deems unacceptable? And if we could be this way without being judged or having to worry?

There's a lot of stuff people repress every day. At least that was one thing interesting about the rooms changing. Maybe if we didn't have to repress all that some people's rooms wouldn't have been so hostile.

...Sorry, I'm probably just starting to babble now, aren't I?

/sob why are all his good discussions with the crazies hard_talker September 13 2011, 03:28:20 UTC
No, NO, it's cool! [he LOVES it. this is exactly the kind of discussion he's been wanting to have since day one] I get where you're coming from. Society just --- it builds up all these expectations for us, no matter where we're from. Even if you're from some different universe, there's still the constant of being told even before you're outta diapers, what you oughta do with your life, how you're supposed to feel, what's good, what's bad, what's normal, what's weird. Boys shouldn't play with dolls, girls shouldn't want to take apart trucks, nobody should wanna do something for the simple reason of "because I can".

I mean ... as far as I figure? If it's not hurtin' anyone else? What's the big deal? Do what makes you happy!

Wow, I think this is the first time anyone your age has ever agreed with me on this sort of thing. Or well... actually got it. The last time they got so argumentive, it was such a pain. Pretty ironic too, I knew like half of them or whatever were affected by the exact kind of things I was talking about. Guess who wanted to spend their day sewing cute animals? Wasn't the girl. Guess who wanted to become the next Sherlock Holmes? Wasn't the boy! And guess who constantly got flack for it? Both of them.

But nope. I don't know anything. Not like I had 12 more years of life experience than they did or whatever.

It's amazing and sad how easily some people can just get ground down by what Life Expects. How people just turn right into sheep. And it's even worse here, have you noticed? "Oh, it's the castle, you'll get used to it". And sure enough, they do! I mean, not to be a fuckin' hypocrite, of course ... even I got used to it. But it doesn't mean I'm happy about it, like most of these sad, sorry fucks are. I do what I gotta do to get by, but at the end of the day, I stick both middle fingers and my dick to the place before I go to bed instead'a sayin' my prayers.

You've got a point. Although I have to admit, I don't mind the castle. To be honest life's better here than it was for me back home. That might be true for other people here too.

Oh, again, preachin' to the choir - I'd be in juvie if I wasn't here, but that's another story.

Even though life might be better here, though? Doesn't mean we should just kick back and let this place jerk us around by the short-and-curlies whenever it feels like it. Wouldn't'cha think?
