Case 7: The Milling People

[Unlike normal James is preparing himself a meal down in the kitchen, his journal next to him as he adds the finishing touches to it.  Yes he can cook, and no do not try stealing food from him, he also knows how to use the knife near him, and touching the bottle of wine nearby is not a good idea either, there's a reason he's in the castle kitchen

[ Hours later (the lady slept for once and slept good she did) there's a short note penned to him. She'd still waking up so writing's her safest option, plus it's not important enough to need to grab his attention directly ]

Where are you?

[ She's seen his note but he may have moved in that time ]

[Good for her for sleeping! He's happy for that and it takes him a moment to realize she's written to him and he chuckles a little before replying.]

The lobby but I was thinking of returning to the kitchen for something more to eat. Would you like anything?

Someone to watch Nikola.

[ At least just for a little bit so she can have some peace from the man ]

I can arrange for that I do believe, he owes someone a date.

[Can you here the amusement in his voice at that?]

[ Only Nikola could manage that whilst in prison ]

[Indeed, James finds it funny really, and he owes it to Rose after all.]

You're welcome Helen, I thought you might be, tiring of him for the moment. Would you like to come down? I could make you something to eat.

I was thinking about going to town, taking a quiet walk. [ And sorry, James, quiet means solitary. As much more pleasant your company is, and calmer, she wants to do something without the hovering ]

[jamesholmes]

[He knows that and he's only a trifle miffed. He hasn't had the chance to see her by himself ever sense Nikola got out, he was hoping for something.] Will you eat in town or when you get back? [Still won't stop him from making sure she's taken care of first though.]

In town. I won't be gone for long.

[jamesholmes]

Of course you won't be. [And he sounds a touch tired when he says this next bit.] Do please take your journal with you Helen, just in case.

Of course. [ Like she wouldn't anyway ]

[jamesholmes]

You slept well then? [Just making sure really, it's a legit question.]

[longaevus]

I did, and I'm fine.

[jamesholmes]

Of course you are, I never said you were not now did I? [Didn't even get to ask either.] Nikola, owes someone a date as I said before...and she is willing to take him for a night so you can have some peace to yourself.

[longaevus]

[ He didn't have to - she knew where it was going ] Who would it be? [ So she could thank her, and then perhaps offer an ear to rant to after ]

[Very true that.] A Rose, I never did get a last name from her. [He's already offered that himself, and asked Nikola be returned to them alive.] And I can leave for somewhere else for the night when he does go, so you can have it to yourself.
