[Filtered to Doctors only]

[even after he's made the filter, he's silent for several long minutes. It's only after a long pause and a disgruntled huff that he actually bothers to speak up]Okay...fine. I promised a few people I'd do this, so...here goes nothing. But I need someone to check out a medical condition that may or may not be sticking ( Read more... )

My name's Helen Magnus. Although I'm not officially working at the clinic I could examine you if no one else was available to?

[his answer comes late...and a little begrudging despite the fact that he's the one who asked in the first place]

This place is a little shy on doctors who aren't working with wands in their hands, so...I'm not gonna be picky.

[yet. Not until they actually want to do anything to his head]

So you're a doctor, Helen?

[ Best she doesn't tell him too much on her job, then ]

I am, yes.

[he doesn't mean to be prejudiced. He just...is. A little.]

[...he knows this won't work if he doesn't fess up about what this is really about. But he's putting it off for as long as he can]

So... if you're not in the clinic, how were you wanting to do this?

In however would be more comfortable for yourself. Basic checkups are just that - basic, which makes them able to be conducted anywhere.

[he hesitates again. Brennan will be furious if she finds out he skirted the issue. But it's just a little more time. He would bring it up eventually. Might as well check on the basics before messing with the rest.]

No offense, Doc, but checkups aren't generally a comfort thing as much as a "needs to be done" thing.

If the clinic doesn't mind us crashing there for however long it takes, I'll put a vote in for that.

Regardless I take the comfort of my patients into account, be it a physical or psychological need. If you'd prefer the Clinic, however, that can be possible. I doubt there'd be too much objection to it being used for its purpose.

There's nothing wrong with my psychology.

[that...might have come out a tad too defensive]

I wasn't implying that. I'd prefer during the examination for you to be calm and to not become distressed, hence my preference for your comfort.

I'm an agent with the FBI, Doc. A checkup isn't going to leave me "distressed."

[that was...partially true. Considering a checkup probably wouldn't find what was distressing him]

I'll meet you in the clinic, then? Any time in particular?

It's a precaution I prefer to take regardless of who it is - a job doesn't negate feelings towards medical examinations. [ doctors were the worst patients - many felt antsy despite their familiarity ]

Whenever you're ready would be fine.

I'm not in any rush.

[a beat, followed by a sigh] But...are you free later this afternoon?

I am. I'll meet you there, then.

Right.

...Thanks, Doc.

[reluctant or not, he'll be at the clinic once 1pm rolls around. He lounges in one of the open seats, legs sprawled in front of him...a picture of exaggerated overconfidence]

[ And Helen arrives a little shortly after that - not late simply not exactly on 1pm ]

Agent Booth, was it? [ She saw his posture, noted it and ignored it. She's known many an overconfident man to have had enough of it but more polite than that ]

Thank you for putting up with the slow. I'm really sorry. ;; beltbucklerebel October 8 2011, 03:47:04 UTC
That's me.

[standing, he offers a hand. There's still something cocky about his posture, but he's professional enough, keeping a comfortable distance between them both] Doctor Magnus, I'm guessing?
