Past the border between the Northern Freedom and the Cinderbreach, there are a chain of mountains known as the Cinderilla Mountains. While these mountains are primarily green and grassy closer to the border, the ones further out grow barren and volcanic, some in the distance even belching up huge clouds of smoke.. There are paths winding around the ( Read more... )

[Setting up a tent is something she really hasn't done in a while, but she's really really hoping it doesn't show. That and she's just now considering that it's big enough for possibly five people, especially if they sleep in shifts. Huh. She knows a group of people like that. :|9]

Need any help with that?

[Spartan is back to her 6'9" self, and feeling much better now that she doesn't have to worry about hairballs.]

[At first Carolina doesn't recognize Kat in the slightest, standing and bristling a little at the offer to help. She still has yet to get out of the mindset that field work isn't a competition here.]

I've got it. [No. No she definitely doesn't but lol pride.]

I think the tent feels differently, Freelancer.

[She crosses her arms, and can't help a slight smirk. It was fascinating to Kat how different her experiences were with the different members of this particular project.]

You were a bit more amenable when I had a tail.

[And then it clicks, but Carolina can't help but make size comparisons between her and Kat, the latter of whom is over a foot taller. Good lord, woman. ]

Kat.

[Regardless, Carolina has to tell herself that the other woman isn't Tex; Kat isn't trying to take anything from her and has done literally nothing to deserve hate or jealousy. Doesn't stop some of that jealousy, though, because holy balls Kat is tall.]

Didn't recognize you without that tail. [ Glancing back to that poor excuse for a tent.] This isn't my area of expertise.

Bingo.

Your project never sent you on field assignments?

[Granted, her own experience was about fifteen years ago and she'd gotten spoiled with her armor, because who needs a tent when you have MJOLNIR? and if you think her height is imressive you should see her abs]

[Exactly. Who needs something made out of fabric when you have huge megaton armor that can withstand almost anything? No one, that's right.]

We're equipped for fast-running, in and out as quickly as possible. And not sleeping. [They were usually "home" to the Mother of Invention in a number of hours and if they weren't well then they deserved to be left behind. Carolina made sure she was never left behind; one of the less good things the Director instilled in her.]

Well, shouldn't hurt to learn something new. You still need help or are you determined to figure it out yourself?

[Offering without imposing. She could understand personal growth through problem solving. ]

I can figure out how to put up a tent. [It's more stubborn nature than wanting to learn a new skill, really.]

I'll see you around, then. Good luck.

Won't need it. [It's out of her mouth before she can even begin to stop it. The best first impression ever.] But, you too.

[She's a Spartan. Luck was part of the training. Maybe not so much the IIIs as he IIs, but still, it wasn't anything she took for granted.] Thanks. A little luck never hurt.
