The moon was bright, silver light streaming through the windows, casting Jilly's silhouette against her bedroom wall as she stared out at the sky. She should have been asleep, should have gone to bed ages ago... but her mind was a jumble of worries that only seemed to multiply every time she closed her eyes.
What tangled webs we weave....
She had so many secrets, now, and she couldn't talk to any of them. Even the people who had meant the most to her had to be kept in the dark. No... especially them. Eliot, Dick, Sakaki, her mother. They couldn't know. And the idea of facing her family on Wednesday and pretending everything was normal was overwhelming.
She'd thought that hiding in the church would help. It cut her off from everything and gave her a place to hide. But it wasn't her. There were so many other things she wanted. Experiences that she... But that was a dangerous line of thought. She'd made her decision. She'd stick with it, for better or worse. Sighing, she stood. Water. Maybe that would help her sleep. Running a hand through her tangled curls, she made her way out into the hallway, bare feet padding softly on the tile floor.
She'd just reached the kitchen and was in the process of filling a glass when, suddenly, a very loud an familiar voice shattered the stillness, startling her into a quiet, "Holy shit!" as she fumbled and nearly dropped her drink. Even through the kitchen window, she could hear someone singing a very loud and off key song to the night.
