Who: Mindy (and Damian) and OTHERS??
What: Waking up... in the castle again.
Where: Their room.
When: Thursday. Early, early morning.
Notes: 666 AU Loss. It moved them to a shared room, but all of their respective "kid-stuff" would still be in their old rooms. So, feel free to run into her on the way to her old room. Or on the way to the kitchen. Or on ( Read more... )

Neal was doing his daily stare down of the front door. It had gotten shorter over the course of his time in Paradisa, but it still happened. There had to be a loophole that wasn't dependent on another person. Had to be.

With that thought in mind, he started to make his way closer to the open entryway. Some days, he'll just hit an invisible wall, and when that happened, sometimes he could get a better look at things. It only really served to rub his face in things, but it was a chance to maybe see something he hadn't seen before.

Today wasn't one of those days.

The minute he got close enough to the door to actually get a look, he was hit by what could only be described as a zap. It blew him backwards, knocking him onto his back, and setting his hat askew. There was a hard cough as he tried to force some air back into his lungs, and he didn't move for a very long time, before pushing himself up into a sitting position and glaring at the door.

"A simple no would have sufficed."

Coming down the stairs, she stopped when she came to the lobby to see someone. He was familiar. It took her a moment but when he got kicked back away from the door it clicked.

'God, am I going to be trapped here with all the same people from when I was a kid?'

Inhaling sharply, she cut across toward the kitchen, planning on grabbing something to eat and then heading into the city. She needed to see if the cave was still out there and what all was still in it. She needed wheels too. This place always had ridiculous rules and people with no real sense in how to get as far away from it as possible.

She should probably turn back around and just go wait for Damian to dredge himself out of sleep, but her stomach was empty and her annoyance level high.

"Castle probably just hates you for trying," she replied sharply in his direction as she kept moving toward the kitchen.

He turned back and glanced towards the sound of the voice before smirking. "I think it hated me before I even got here. If it didn't, it wouldn't have trapped me in here in the first place."

But that was not the point. The point was that someone was talking to him, and now he was going to get up and follow her. It was something to do that wasn't painful.

Yet.

Drawing in a sharp breath, she groaned at the following. She could hear his footsteps and really didn't have time for Neal.

"It traps a lot of people, don't think you're special or anything. It hates us all, but just you a bit more."

She may not have time for him, but she was going to get him anyway. He was bored.

"Exactly. Can't blame me for being curious as to why."

"It's a castle. I'm pretty sure you'll be short on answers from the walls."

She continued moving, heading into the kitchen and yanking the fridge open to grab a bottle of water. "Still having trouble finding someone to walk you?"

Mindy didn't really think about what she was saying as she moved to grab an apple from the fruit basket. She was pretty sure he was still trying to beg for help on the journals. It'd be common knowledge.

Actually -- not so much. His questions had gotten more specific and more anonymous, and that question made his head tip, and had him looking at her more closely. He didn't recognize the face, not completely, but there was something nagging him about her.

"I'm starting to figure it out. Just a matter of making the right friends."

"Yeah, good luck with that." Mindy unscrewed the cap of the water, taking a sip and shrugging before turning to walk back out of the kitchen with her apple.

She wanted to head out to the city, see how much time had passed. It felt like she barely left, but she knew that years had gone by.

And Neal is just going to follow her, right on her heels like a puppy. "So, I don't think I've seen you around before. But you know about my loss."

He didn't broadcast exactly what it was. So if she knew, she had to be someone that he tried to get to go outside with him. And he knew all those faces.

Mindy rolls her eyes, moving across the lobby and pausing at the door. "You make journal entries asking for people and you try at the lobby every once in a while. I'm observant."

"Uh-huh." He still wasn't quite buying it, but there wasn't much he can do in that respect. He glanced towards her as he moved for the door, before shrugging. "Want to give it a roll then?"

Mindy rolled her eyes, exhaling rather loudly, "I'd really rather not."

She said it though, as she's walking out the door. He could just follow her.

Yeah, he's going to do just that, jogging to keep up with her, and sucking in a deep breath of the fresh air as he did. He missed being able to go outside. There were some days where he felt like he was going to go so nuts from cabin fever that this was almost cruel and unusual punishment.

But he can't stay still for long, or else he'll be zapped back in.

Mindy just kept walking. She didn't care if he followed or if he got yanked back. To be honest, she wasn't really sure what the castle might consider her right now. She honestly wasn't sure she wanted to know either.

He jogged slightly to catch up with her, falling alongside her with his hands in his pockets. "I'm Neal, but I'm guessing you already knew that."

"Aren't you the smart one," Mindy chided at him. She didn't lose her stride though, moving quickly and really not caring that he was still following her. She needed to get to the garage, but apparently she was going to have to ditch the guy that looked like Dick Grayson.

Funny how she didn't recall that when she was younger.
