You are more a book person than a movie person, then? I'm quite impressed, really. It's much easier to be the other one.
And, btw, was 'A Time to Kill' a good Grisham? I feel like some Grisham right now, would that be a good choice? I mean, 'The Brethren' was an excellent book, but I wouldn't say the same about 'The Broker' (that makes the two Grisham novels that I actually read). It was good, but nothing really that special. Where does 'A Time To Kill' place?
I'm definitely more of a book than a movie person. I tried to see more movies this year, though, and I did a fairly good job, at least until school started again. I'm not big on renting movies, so if I don't see them in the theater, I usually miss them.
A Time To Kill is my favorite Grisham. It was his first novel, so it's got that tight writing he lost in later novels. And it's really an interesting plot with some thought provoking ethics. I'd definitely recommend it.
Thanks about the Grisham advice. I will definitely take it into consideration. I've been trying to get in touch with the book side of me lately, that I really grieviously neglected in favor of the motion pictures. This should help.
First, you are awesome for recently reading Mary Anne's Makeover this year. If I remember correctly, there's a line in there where Dawn, I believe, says something like "You went from ________ to LL Bean in sixty seconds flat!" Second, I am in awe that you read fifty pleasure books this year. Especially because I believe that you're a grad student--is that right? Either way, you are amazing. AND FIC. You must never sleep!
Although, it's totally cheating to count Pirates: DMC twice.
ALSO: There are SGA novels? Are they good? Where can I find them?!
Sorry about that--the entry was supposed to be backdated so as not to uselessly spam since the post was just for reference.
Points for remembering the BSC that well! I loved that series when I was a kid and one of my mom's students donated a few to her classroom, so I picked up one up for old time's sake. And that line was indeed in there. Great memory.
Dude, Pirates totally counts twice. That fucker was long. And the second time, damn. Orlando Bloom's pretty, but he ain't that pretty.
SGA novels, yes! There are two of them out, with a third one that's completed but has a fuzzy release date. The first one was really good; there was a lot of fun Sheppard and McKay and the author really seemed to enjoy the characters, because it came across in her writing. The second one wasn't that great. It was written by different authors and I didn't enjoy the plot all that much. It was mostly an extended battle and I'm not all that great with battle theory, so it was mostly meh for me. There's also a novelization of the pilot that I really

The look and special effects are nifty enough to make it worth a two hours' waste of time. The plot really isn't worth a dime, but if you're aiming to look at something cool, this is your film.
(Now I'm really hoping you don't watch it and decide it's a waste waste, as opposed to a productive waste.)
