I'm still working on that hellish project at work, because I'm not being given any help. I've been just a stressy mess thanks to that and the dumb ass classes I'm taking. I finished them this week so I'm going to spend time at 3:50 AM babbling about random crap instead of sleeping. Hooray ( Read more... )

You gotta admit though- VP2:S has awesome gameplay. The battle system surpasses that of any Star Ocean, FF, Tales, Xeno, or Grandia battle system. That's one big factor as to why I grade VP2 really high. It's fun!

Second big factor on why I like it: Silmeria is hot. Hotter than Lenneth.

It would have even more awesome gameplay if its dungeons didn't totally suck. I love the battle system, I love the orb system, but god are the dungeons so boring to drudge through. It's like they took all of the designs they voted out of the first game for being uninteresting and shoved them in here.

Granted, this could easily change during Chapter 4 but at this point I've never really wanted a big long ass group of cutscenes to put off the next dungeon as much as I do now. I think I almost fell asleep doing the Water Temple of Adoula like twice >_<. And the Mine was totally pathetic. I think Surt's Volcano was the first time I actually enjoyed going through a dungeon since the first one.

Here's hoping for an improvement.

BTW, you're right. Silmeria is totally hawt and Alicia would be too if she were a little older. Also, this one Einherjar I got recently; Arcana I think? I usually don't go for the silver girl thing, but she's cute ^_^.

In all honesty, you're looking at VP:S entirely the wrong way. Silmeria isn't there to be the Chooser of the Slain, nor is she there to bring judgment on others. Silmeria's role right now is to simply survive and as you can clearly see in the intro, dodge Hrist or the gaze of the Aesir for all she's worth.

So ... really, the Einherjar aren't the focus on the story. But if you read a lot of the optional materials and legends and myths and stories when you poke around houses and chapels and such, you'll find out more about some of the ones you do pick up, like Celes.

Of course she's not there to be the chooser. However, at that point if you're not going to give the Einherjar any time in the spotlight...why have them at all? Silmeria's still a Valkyrie and losing the Einherjar's uniqueness and intrigue really kills their whole point. Not only that, but it's incredibly wasted potential to give us an idea what Silmeria's character was like before she got stuck in Alicia, as well as more of a look at the world's history ( ... )
