I've always loved the Isley brothers version and last night I saw the original for the first time. If you are in the UK check out the Singer & Songwriter series they are putting out on BBC4 late of Fridays, there's some real gems in there. If you can't stay up late then iPlayer is your friend.

I never the Isley brothers singing this. I've heard Seals and Croft. I assume it's the original. I always associated the song with them.

Yeah, it is the original, but known to me until yesterday.

I never knew the Isley Brothers did Summer Breeze - I had always heard the Seals and Crofts version. I was a HUGE S/C fan in the 70's and 80's - I was always listening to music 10 years older than my friends - my brother was 10 years old and a huge music fanatic. I tended to like what he liked. S/C was one of my favorites. Still is, really. I love this song.

The footage I saw for Seal and Crofts was from The Old Grey Whistle Test marking them as being outside the mainstream in the UK. Late nights with Whispering Bob were not going to get you played on Radio One and then into the charts.

The Isley's version has some great guitar on it, but having heard the original I have to say I prefer it.
