Sometimes it's easier to talk about things that you don't have much to say. I can talk about my opinion about Merlin, but I have a hard time blogging about Avatar: the Last Airbender because it ate my brain

For m/m slashy vibes, I started to be really hit by it in episode 5. But there are also extremely obvious moments in episodes 10, 11, and pretty much every one. The f/f slash is not as blatant. There are sweet moments in 10 and 12, but it mostly grows from a lot of little things over time. I would say the show is moe cracky in the sense of "endure it for the good bits" than "cracktastic goodness", so I cannot help you with that.
Thanks for the info. So far the show comes across as a generic cheesy fantasy series, without the heart or outrageously over the top fun that can make such a series more interesting. I'm considering skipping ahead to eps 10 and 12 to see if the show will peak my interest.
Episode ten is about Merlin and the others teaming up to save Merlin's mother's village from bandits, and is mostly light-hearted fun (though one of the bandits is randomly Middle Eastern, for some reason, but that's a fairly minor quibble for me). Also extremely gay.
12 is pretty rage inducing, particularly if you have not had the lead-up to it. It has seriously questionably morals. I would definitely not recommend for someone looking to get into the series.
5 (Lancelot shows up) and 11 (Arthur kills a unicorn, there are repercussions) might also be good ones to skip to, though I don't remember either of them being particularly femslashy. 8 (Mordred shows up) and 9 (Excalibur shows up) are more serious, but also watchable out of order.
Oh man! How did I miss that Merlin was starting on NBC? I knew it was coming this summer so I held off watching it on my computer because I was hoping to get friends/family to watch with me on my big screen. And now I see that I've missed five episodes already. Does anyone know how many episodes there are? I wonder if there will be reruns. I'd really like to start from the beginning.
If you want to start from the beginning, you can catch up on the eps you missed on hulu.com. I watched 1.5 eps on NBC, and 2 eps online on Hulu. I think the season is around 20 eps.
