War of the Worlds

Went with my friend Alex from work to see War of the Worlds on opening night. After it was out, he, two of his friends and I stood around for two hours b.s.ing about bad sequels planned for the future. Anyway, I guess I'll include my thoughts on the movie below. You already know that means spoilers, right? Reading is up to you.

The scenes in the basement were so ridiculous. Those aliens were so moronic. X_x;

I thought the red vines were human flesh, stretched out. o.o;;

They may have been, Alex. But what were they for? Why did the aliens need to weaken their offensive strength and speed in order to plant those vines? I wish that had been explained.

Before I begin, I've never read the book nor have I seen the movie yet. My dad, who has read the book, says that the plant had no purpose. He says that the humans noticed them dying before the aliens started dying. I'm guessing in the book that the plants just arrived on earth as spores clinging to the ships or something. :/

For the movie though, if these vines were planted long ago or something, maybe they'd eventually change the earth's atmosphere/kill the microbes/something that would keep the aliens from dying when they were ready to take over.

Thanks for your review! I was a little dubious as to how this movie would turn out, but it sounds ok from what you've said.

Yeah, I haven't seen the movie yet, but it was filmed just a little while away from me, right near my friend's house. I was gonna go throw rocks at the set, but I couldn't get close enough.

Unfortunately, I have yet to see the movie, but I guess I'm glad you didn't waste your money on it.

I'll probably see it eventually....
