Summary: Elena and Cissnei are sent to Edge to retrieve Rufus Shinra and return to Junon with hopes of not running into any of the rising dead.
Edge. It never really sat well with her, not with the remains of the quickly-degrading Midgar looming just beyond with its sins and horrors and history laid bare for all to see. While there had been a mass exodus from the failing city - especially after the Omega Incident - some had remained in spite of themselves either because it was their home or because seeing the decrepit remains was a constant reminder of previous wrongs they had committed in hopes to turn their lives around. There was something almost...religious about their refusal to leave. As if their meager existence and punishment in remaining somehow purified their souls.
What utter nonsense.
The greatest oddity was that Reeve Tuesti and his desire to remain. Of course, Edge was base for the WRO. What better place of regeneration and Regenesis than the one place that needed it most. But Midgar was dying - if not dead already - and Elena sometimes wondered if that pile of rubble and steel was even worth saving. Thankfully, that was not on the agenda for today. No, she was sent to Edge with one very specific purpose. Retrieve Rufus Shinra and return to Junon.And speaking of Rufus Shinra...Elena turned her eyes up to the building that housed the WRO's Commissioner and presently her target. Glancing sideways to her current partner, she gave a little sigh. "I don't know when the last time you saw Midgar was, Cissnei, but here it is. A shame, isn't it?"
