Prompt: Island
Rating: Hm. PG-13, maybe?
A/N: For this drabble, I went and experimented with a different style. It turned out . . . . okay, I guess. And the whole island thing is totally metaphorical, hell, I'm not even sure how the hell it got in there.
"Do you think that's why they don't like us, Zexion?"
"Hm?" He looks up from the book, startled at the interruption.
Demyx holds out a hand in front of his face, examining its musician's calluses carefully with the faintest of smiles. "We spin a sugar-sweet little fairy tale they can never find . . . . huh, that's not pretty at all."
"What's this 'we'?" Zexion replies coolly, his eyes going back to his book.
A mocking-bright smile, and Demyx singsongs, "Alone on an island, stranded in the sea~ all alone, Zex-i-on."
A turning page is the only answer he'll ever get.
Demyx's smile gets brighter, and he inches closer, eyes full of ocean peering over the edge of the binding. Gently he plucks away the book and holds up Zexion's hand for inspection. "Hmm, perfect little Zexion~ bet you never played at the beach, not without even a flaw to keep you company."
"I'm not lonely. You never leave me alone, whether I want it or not."
Demyx laughs. "Make a bride of the ocean~ so ambitious."
"If you say so."
"Yes!" Demyx's grin is triumphant. "Whatever I say."
"And are you going to tell me what that is, so I can get back to reading and you'll stop bothering me?"
"I say . . . ." Demyx leans in close. "No more books, the island's too lonely~ time you had a few flaws, hm?"
"You're too close."
"Mm-hm! Let's get closer."
