I'm not trying to be a mom or anything, but I'm not sure what you're trying to make people remember, the meaning behind the event, or the specific image of a plane flying into a building.
did you commemorate the anniversairy of hiroshima? or pearl harbor? or the firebombings of dresden (germany) and tokyo? how about the opening days of the Civil War when the south sneak attacked the north at Fort Sumpter? or how about Wounded Knee?
what is it about 9/11 that gets everybody's panties up in a bunch? dead people are dead people. just because they're not american, or their our "enemy" (for the time being), does that mean we can just forget about them while holding another event high above them? i guess the only exception for SOME americans would be pearl harbor.
jesus christ all i did was say don't forget. i'm sorry if i offended you by remembering 9/11 and nothing else. people remember 9/11 because they went through it. i saw it on the news. i remember how i felt on that day. i remember how fucking scary it was seeing people jump out of a burning, crumbling building. i remember having people around me crying because they were scared they'd lost someone they cared for. i'm sorry 9/11 is a little more intimate for me than those other events, i can't help it.
ah sorry. didn't realize i sounded so harsh, or mean to even. i guess what did it was the back of the hand thing. made me realize that probably ANYBODY who was alive that day will NEVER forget it, even if they weren't reminded of it. kind of like how people from the generations before us all remember the day kennedy was shot or when the space shuttle exploded in the 80s. i'm from NY. of course i REMEMBER 9/11. i feel this "9/11/01 NEVER FORGET!" stuff (bumperstickers etc) is all just jingoistic nonsenese. kinda like "REMEMBER THE ALAMO!" stuff during the Mexican-American war. to fuel people to want to rip people apart. i find that disgusting and of the same mentality that caused 9/11 in the first place. i know you're not like that, and wasn't specifying you. was jsut syaing it in general about americans and people
