Complaining about the lack of women in Star Trek is like complaining about the lack of women in Master and Commander. Wars are fought by men, not by women. =P

I reject your argument that wars are fought by men. 2% of American fatalities in the Middle East are female. About 20% of the military overall are female.

But that's another argument. Star Trek isn't a male only society. The problem I have with Star Trek is that there are women present - women are in the background pretty much all over the Enterprise. But they're in the BACKGROUND. They don't get stories. Uhura? She gets a story because she gets to be the girlfriend. Not only that, she gets to be the loving girlfriend who sends her man off to war, when she's just as qualified, at least as much as Kirk. I have an arguement with the way female roles are protrayed in popular culture. If this show is going to take place in the future, then gender roles should be a bit more progressive.
