It's impossible to say who at this stage. Or at least, not with any certainty. Besides, I think you at least should try to stay out of this. Revenge isn't going help. I'm sorry Emmeline, I truly am. Be assured that we will bring these killers to justice.

I know, I do. But---how can I just sit here and wallow it in the pain? I can't. Just---tell me he didn't suffer. I need to know, if--when you know, I, I need to know.

I promise, I'll keep you updated Emmeline. If you want my professional opinion (we haven't got the pathologist's report yet) it was a killing curse. But there was quite a fight. You should know, they fought like heroes.
I would rather have you come to the castle, Alastor. I cannot find the time to leave the grounds, and while I do not fear for my own personal safety, I know better than to test the ambitions of Voldemort and minions. Word of me in London would not bode well for us
( ... )
Well all I have here is a mixture of notes on Arithmancy (judging by all the numbers) and Curses. It seems to be all here and accounted for, but it would be best to be cautious all the same. They were certainly the intended targets - we discovered our mole thanks to a distraction designed for Shacklebolt at the Ministry. Whether the attack was simply to get rid of the two of them, or whether it had some connection to their tasks is difficult to know.
I hope your input will do something, but I think we'll have to be prepared for the worst.

So Shacklebolt was attacked at the Ministry then. I was not aware. What puzzles me is how they were able to locate the flat where most of our Order either lives part time or visits regularly in the first place. Is it in Ministry habit of sharing personal files of employees, or is this in part thanks to that mole of yours, Alastor?
I fear we may not survive to see this conflict end, or that these children will fight our fights and continue dying while we continue to mold in our old age. If we are encouraged to play by the Dark Lord's rules, I fear for us all.
Anytime would be convenient, Alastor. My door is always open for you, and I do not sleep well as of late.
The mole might have something to do with it, but the personal files are fairly well protected - not as much as I'd like, but the Minister had some aversion to introducing a cave troll into the building. One of us could have been followed, or it could have been random chance even. We shall have to discuss those protective charms when we meet.
Personally, if I'm going to mold, I intend to mold directly in the path of His plans. And I shall become incontinent all over his strategies too - if I can help it.
I'm going to check on Shacklebolt, but I shall try to come directly afterwards - as long as no one else dies.

Healer Caius Nott,
The Prewetts' relatives should come to you soon, though Mr. Dorien may take slightly longer as he has no close relatives to the best of our knowledge. We should be able relieve you of the bodies within the week.
All I will ask of you sir, is whether you could think of any other murders in recent history which the method of Mr. Dorien's death might relate to. It would be a great help to our investigation.

Thank you for your professional opinion. If you do happen to think of anything, please contact us, as I shall if any other inquiries arise.
We will send one of Mr. Dorien's co-workers around as soon as may be, they probably knew him best.
