Heh. If I wasn't already signed up (and waiting for people to confirm their offers, dammit!) I'd do it for you. I know 5 people who have gotten theirs, so far.

How's it work? I mean, what would I be signing up for? I've heard nothing about this whole iPod thing. :)

Okay, since my roommate already wrote up an explanation, and since I'm horribly lazy, I'm going to just copy what he told me. ;)

Ok, so there's this marketing campaign giving out free IPODs, I was
very skeptical at first, thinking it was a pyramid scheme but I guess
the company that's been doing this has been featured on some pretty
high profile news outlets like Wired.com and CNN Headline News. I set
an account up and gave it a try, but it requires that I send these
referals out and that you sign up for one of their "free trials"
(i.e. AOL membership for 45 days, etc.). The trick is to sign up for
these things and then cancel the trial. No cost, no credit cards. If
you guys are interested, it'd be great to get an ipod for free. If you
don't want to do it, that's cool too, but could you please reply so I
can refer someone to take your place. I need 5 participating
referals and you can do the same for yourself with 5 other people.
Let me know, and I'll definitely let you know if it really works.

Well Lavi, I'll give you an assist, and if it works, I'll be forced to do it.

And Michie, I hate to bear teh bad news, but from what I know, it only is applicable in the US. :(

Sure, why not? I'll probably even do it myself afterwards, 'cuz again, why not?

Is this e-mail or snail mail?

E-mail, though I think Randy said it was only for US folks. Which stinks. :/

I already have an iPod, and I'd love to share the joy. What do you need me to do?

Once I get the five people (I'd rather get their okay beforehand to make sure they actually do it and not delete it ;) ) I'll put in the form and all. Basically, you'd need to sign up for one of their offers (like AOL, book clubs, CD clubs, stuff like that) for their trial period, then you can cancel it.

Do we actually have to wait out the trial period, or can we just sign up and then cancel, like, two days later? 'Cause if it's the latter, I could be in. I'd be happy to help you get an iPod.

I honestly have no idea. I'll find out when I go do it for my roommate though.
