Did you drive a Versa yet? I had one as my rental when someone totaled my car... I liked how roomy it was and was initially attracted to it when I saw a guy drive by me in the freeway in one... but I think the Fit is better in terms of gas mileage, from what I recall. Kind of a weird drive but then again, it wasn't a new Versa. Looks neat though! I got a Scion XD. Its pretty cute.
I test drove both the Versa and the Fit, and they both drove about the same, levels of comfort about the same too... so it was a tough choice. The Fit does have better gas mileage and it's a teeny bit safer to drive, but I'm not driving very far most days (5 minutes to work, 5 minutes back) and the Versa definitely is roomier and I think it'll be more comfortable too (difficult to say from a ten minute test drive!)... my dad has a Honda Civic and it gets really uncomfortable after a while... I'm worried the Fit will be the same.
I also looked into/drove the Scion xD. I really like the way it drives and it's definitely a god package, but it has too much going on for me in the dash-area... I would get distracted waaay too often.
And oh man, I could totally go for a massage right now. I get a short break, have to be back at work at 2 tomorrow, but I have Tuesday off so I am definitely looking forward to that! It is going to be a lazy day, me thinks.
I mostly got the Scion XD because of the gas mileage/iPod thing. I drive about 60 miles to work so I need that gas mileage on my side. :) Its a bit bumpy when I went to San Francisco in it, but whatever. It was cheap and the gas thing sold me.
Only 5 minutes to work? Wow. You are living the life.
Oh, by the way that tapestry (or.. cloth of some sort) is beautiful! I need something like that in my room.
I picked that tapestry up in Amsterdam :) They have them all over the place in their little markets. The only ones I can get around here are in mall shops and they're usually overpriced. I have more tapestries but I don't have any wall left to hang them! I could put them on the ceiling but the positioning of the lights in my room works against that idea... so I just have that one up for now.
This may sound petty (and biased) but I hate how the Fit looks. They just look small and uncomfortable to me. The Versa is a bit funky looking head on but I love its overall shape. (How much of a size difference is there between the Fit and the Versa anyway?)

That's the opinion I keep hearing, actually. I have one friend who keeps telling me to get the Fit because it's a 'cooler' car, but everyone else seems to like the Versa better, even my mom. My brother sat in the back of the Versa and he said it wasn't particularly comfortable but it was definitely roomy, and my dad sat in the back of the Fit and told me it was the most uncomfortable thing ever.... I don't plan on having a constant slew of people in the back of my car, but they're still good points to note. As far as what the specific size difference between the two cars is, I'm not really sure and I don't really feel like looking it up at the moment :P
I really like the one I test drove, it's a red hatchback 1.8SL with all the packages... it's a little more money than I intended to spend and I definitely don't need all the extras (bluetooth? that pocket power key? psh) so I'm going to try to talk him down on the price, but otherwise it's perfect.

Jealous!! We wanted the SL but, well... I'm not sure if you know of it but Nissan has a first time buyers program. I don't remember the details so you will have to ask a salesman, but I believe they overlook credit issues (bad credit, no credit) and give you the car at the price the dealership pays (or close to it). Please let me know what they say when you do ask though. See, we really wanted the SL and were told they would only let us get a low end Versa (we were also considering the Sentra but they said it wasn't allowed either). What makes me think they were being sort of shady (aka trying not to lose any money) was that we demanded power windows and locks (so it went from the base to the mid class/S) and there was no argument there. If the conditions were to get everything the lowest we could in lieu of saving money for the company, they would have made us get the manual windows/door locks. So I dunno, we have always felt they kind of screwed us there because we were inexperienced, but maybe not. So ask or whatever, and you can
