Mmmmmmm, yes.

I think what makes him work particularly well is that for all his brooding (which he does v. v. nicely), he has the most wonderfully cheeky smile - so you can see the person he used to be, which is often difficult with big glowery types.

Also I'm pretty sure one of Mitchell's forefathers died during the American War of Independence... Dying In War is what his family's always done.
