I would like to learn that arcane skill known as vidding. I've only got iMovie, so I'm not sure what sorts of things one can do with that. I understand I need a ripping program and some other type thing I'm guessing to turn it into AVI. I understand I should make a test project first. Hmm. I have I TB of hard drive to work with and a core duo

Go for it. Vidding can be fun but a pain sometimes. No wait, youtube can be a pain sometimes.

Yeah it is. :) I only vid when the moment hits me like a tonne of bricks. Planning is overrated.

If your looking for a converter, I really suggest Xilisoft Video Converter. It can convert practically anything and it's very customizable.

As for vidding tips, one big one is backing up stuff. I don't know much about iMovie, but splitting scenes is relatively easy.
