Notes: This just popped up into my head when I heard Hazel in my head complaining that he wouldn't have any Kami-sama to cuddle at night after the auction XD This takes place in the YNS Manor, AU in other words.

When they said you can't buy love
His figure was always something constant in the midst of the toy-laden room: bewildered, gleeful, although holding that strange trove of ideas within that childish mind of his. Dressed in priest robes, I still couldn't separate his current image from the image burned into my mind: that of my young playmate dressed in simple cotton wear, happily holding out a doll to me.
He had all I lost as a child: the smiling eagerness and the wide eyes that swallowed the world whole. And it was those things I had lost that drew me to him.
I wanted to feel complete, perhaps. Maybe in embracing him, I'd have again what I had lacked.
So, I lock my arms around him with a free smile, taking my hat off and nuzzling gently against his neck. He responds just like most children: turning slowly with this meek affection, gently nuzzling against my chest as he held me back.
We've both lost. But, perhaps in the midst of the coldness left by the defeat, we'd find solace within each other.
