The chaos of this life, vis a vis, August begins

Jul 30, 2008 22:33

I'm currently experiencing quite a few of near-crisis level situations. Thus I'm trying to figure things out, sort them out, and find a means of getting out of here. Remaining will probably mean being here forever, if not my complete ruination. I'm not sure how much time is left before my mother loses everything. She's relying more and more on me ( Read more... )

Foremost, look to Colorado for a move. Yes, I know Washington is a bit more ideal to you now, but the closer proximity will lead to a cheaper initial move - and - a greater probability of being able to visit places to identify good work as well as housing.

As for any help - I've got your back (or is that "tail"?).

*hugs* I'm so sorry about your current situation :/. I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help, but let me see if I can ask my Uncle about places to live in CO/jobs (what are you looking for?). I have a friend living in Seattle as well, so I'll try to contact her too...

I wish you all the best!

Hello. I am living in Seattle, Wa. Well, actually a little North (about 15 mins) in Lynnwood. In the city it is pretty expensive to live, I'm in a suburb and rent seems a lot cheaper. The minimum wage here I think is 8.75 an hour, though I might be a little off. Maybe 8.25. I am working at the bars making 16.75...it's quite a commute but things seem to be working okay. I dunno, just thought I'd say something, if you have any questions, just ask!

Well, if you're looking at Washington but don't have any place in particular in mind, you might consider expanding your options a little and also consider Portland, or at least the surrounding area. One BIG help that move can bring you is the TriMet system - as long as you live fairly close to a bus or train line, you really don't need a car in this town... and these days, that can be a HUGE savings. (Gas, insurance, maintainence, taxes and licensing... it all adds up, and quickly.)

What's your background? That'll determine what sort of employment you can land, and where you'd be best off looking. I know we've got several major employers around here - Nike, Maxim, Intel, Tokyo Electronics, Nikon - but what you're qualified to do for them will determine what you get hired for.

Don't just look at "places to go" - think about what you'd like to do. Figure out who's hiring for that sort of thing, preferably several alternatives. Then look at where they're located - and decide from those possibilities which place is going to be most ( ... )
