Love is complicated for me - introspection

He's beautiful. That's what I always told him. He didn't know why. I think it was because his soul is beautiful. It's so bright and full of hope. He sees the world we should have and holds hope for it. He believes in spite of himself. Cynicism hasn't dampened his optimism. Though, I think he is measured with it. Careful. This is good introspection and offers me hope that you will refocus, adapt, and find other foci in life. You're right - we cannot control much of anything in life. In fact, some psychology researchers like John Bargh (Yale) have even theorized our sense of free will and control might actually be largely illusory. So much of my life has not been purely of my control. Whether going to the graduate program I did, (not) "choosing" to major in psychology, to the locations of jobs I've had - much of it was linked to seemingly random events and events not within my control. One tenet of Buddhism, which inspired the Air Benders in Avatar, is that in order to realize the highest order of mindfulness we must learn to let go. We need to learn to not be in control, to let the world be, and to let go of our worldly connections to include connections to other people. I think few accomplish that, but it is wise.
