Booking Through Thursday - following regency_cate 's most excellent example of the past few months, I'm stealing this meme :)

This week's questions brought to you by Deb, reader extraordinaire. Thank you, Deb.
  1. Do you lend your books to other people?
Oh yes, and often :) You can always see what's out of my library on the right-hand side bar right on my LJ, or ( Read more... )

In many cases, however, I'm willing to let a book go for longer if they promise to read and finish it.

This amused me, as my friend (who I berated in my own answers to these questions) has managed to keep a favourite (out of print) book of mine for a year and a half, by continuously promising to read it "soon". I should draw a line somewhere, don't you think?

What's amusing is that she apparently has a complusion to read books she owns (she owns no books that she hasn't read) but when it's a loan, she feel no immediate urge to read it. (I think the reason I find it amusing is because I'm the exact opposite. I own nearly two hundred books I've not read, and if someone loans me one, I must read-it-and-return-it-as-soon-as-possible.)

My goodness, I think the same way about loans (though, I suppose that elwe would occasionally disagree with me, I still have a book out on loan from him which I've had for amost two months).  I agree that a line needs to be drawn, oh, but where?  I think your year and a half (particularly since it's out of print!) is long enough - perhaps you can hold a book of hers hostage for awhile?
