Popoli, Ryan, I have the cookbook!  Fantastic stuff.  Now to decide a menu....

1.  Pudding, yes
2.  No soussed hog face, please.  And I don't think millers...right.
3.  Drinks?
4.  When?
[Not completely all together this morning.]

Hm! We may have to get together to look at the book, so we know what the options are. :-)

"3. Drinks?"

It seems like the most popular drink at the captain's table is sherry (which is yummy); does the book have period non-alcoholic options?

"4. When?"

Hm! I'm very flexible; what sort of time constraints do you all have?

I did not take that good a look this morning, but the majority of the drinks aren't non-alcoholic. There is a lemonade that may suit. But the temptation to try Grog (no matter the comical results) is there.

Here is the table of contents (screenshoted off Amazon)

What the heck is "The Last of the True French Short Bastards"? :-)

Trying Grog would be interesting, though I never got the impression it tasted terribly good. :-)

I'll be home this weekend (through Monday night) but I know Di will be in the city Sat (and I have plans Sat night too...). Fri I won't be home till ~8. I plan to go back to school Tues afternoon/evening. Then my next time is Thanksgiving break, which I'll have to get back to you on cause I don't know what my family's plans are yet.

um, I'm with the "no soused hog's face"

they also drink, hm, maderia and port? and a few others? never had any of them. I suppose we could get some nonalcoholic stuff if we want a nonalcoholic option besides water. I know I wasn't planning to drink as much as they do (which is a lot!!) so I don't particularly need another option as I'm good to drive home on a glass of wine or so taken with food. And I'm not that far away if I wanted to ask for a ride from someone (ie, my family). So that's a long-winded way of saying, I don't care ;)

It'll probably be at my godparents' place... which will be good, since if I try anything really interesting, someone's going to have to carry me upstairs.

The plan at the moment is to be in Philly Sunday afternoon, BUT I have a particular person to see (don't I, dear).

Thanksgiving is looking alot more interesting (though it WILL be crazy crowded at the Tyrees). The weekend before Thanksgiving is a possablity, as they're all going to a wedding. How easy is it for you to get here then, Popoli?

Ah! There may not be a particular need for a non-alcoholic option then. I brought it up mainly because I associated you with evangelicalism, which I associate with not drinking alcohol (probably due to being from Baptist-land :-) ).

You being Popoli and not me, I assume :)

But for my sake, I believe that the purchase of grape juice will be necessary

Not that I'll be coming ;D. the millers are ok if you do use chicken breasts or rabbit haunches instead.
For the drinks, Admiral's Flip (very alkoholic), iced lemonade with Marsala (not so alcoholic)might be some idea.
Let me know what you have decided on.
*hugs*
