the difference they would hear (Yoda said.) _most_ people. - crappy phones are _so_ crappy!.. I even have some lower-end AKG on my person now, these were simply the best of the worst... ^__^ But.. ore-sama is sure: waisting 400+ US Dollars on Phones is Stupidity. &__& Serious listening to the music calls for real audio system in a real room. it's that simple... And using the phones outside one's "audiophile paradise" room does not require that kind of quality - there are too many distracting factors!..
High-end phones have some limited use by a limited group of music industry people, but it hardly has anything to do with anime-induced popularity and poor fans, mired in their delusion ^____^
they better go and get some Mana items from Moi-meme-Moitie ^___^ Or some other decent Gothic-and-Lolita brand ^___^

I actually think otherwise - having a good pair of headphones is better than, say, those pieces of rubbish that come with airline service (then again, those have to be used because the sound doesn't pipe through in stereo with mine, woe). After all, not everyone can afford to have a good hi-fi setup, and good cans + good quality audio + good player = good experience.

But yeah, those fans have better things to do with their money instead on blowing it all on things they may not necessarily appreciate. Certainly it's a marked step up from the usual, but if a user can't tell the difference in sound quality between K701s and some cheaper ones, there's not much point to it at all...
