Ooh, you could always do a music poll or an actor/actress one. *tries to think of more ideas that would work with a picspam* I just like clicking buttons. ;D
I've been hearing lots about how awesome Pan's Labyrinth is but I don't even know what it's about!
Some scenes in Pan's Labyrinth were quite shocking. Like the beating with the bottle. They usually avert the camera for films like that, so it was refreshing to see a film that didn't shy away from the violence, whilst not being gratuitous. And the commander guy stitching up his mouth!
I have to say I was kind of disappointed by it though. I thought it was going to be more horror-oriented than it was. I thought it was a beautiful, brutal story, and there were some really 'WOW' bits, but I don't know.. I think it had something missing although I'm not sure what.
Of all the violent scenes, the beating with the bottle was by far the most disturbing. It was actually one of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen, on a par with many of the persecution scenes in The Pianist. I'm not really one for such things, but it was done in such a way that I think it wouldn't have had the same kind of impact without them.
I absolutely adored everything about it, although the ending did leave me a little cold, but I think it was supposed to. It's really left me thinking.
Oh, I agree whole-heartedly about Pan's Labyrinth. Mucho brilliant. The violence was truly cringe-worthy though, my mother had to burrow into my brother's arm, hah.
