Not to try to mediate, but perhaps it might help Steve to think of it this way:

A LARGE majority of our overseas "charity" spending is for hunger relief, disease prevention, and other simple infrastructure projects (clean wells, electricity, etc). If overseas medical workers (who are already there) are now permitted to provide information, contraception, and, yes, abortions, the overall costs of things like those above will actually DECREASE. See, with less people (unwanted or otherwise), there are more resources for the rest of the needy. If the people in these 3rd world countries actually acquire the means to produce and maintain CAPITAL, they can become much more efficient consumers. Compare consumerism now with the way it was prior to the propagation of large scale contraception. When people aren't spending every penny they earn on the ever growing needs (particularly hunger) of children, SURPRISE! they usually are able to indulge their own material appetites.

I think I meant to say "large scale propagation of contraception". The way I put it it almost sounds like giant condoms...

Oh, and don't forget the whole security thing. With less poor people: less terrorism!
