They sit in the darkened theater, pressed against each other's. Kihyun feels his stomach twisted in knots, nerves getting the best of him. He can't focus on the movie, can't focus on anything except the way that Hoseok's fingers are right there, the heat of Hoseok's arm against his own, the fact that if he shifted, they'd be holding hands.
He feels dumb, he feels excited, he wants to hold Hoseok's hand. He shifts, staring straight ahead even when he wants to turn toward Hoseok. His fingers brush Hoseok's once, then again, and then without Kihyun really understanding how, they're holding hands. Fingers entwined together, just like his jangled nerves.
Even though he feels like his hand is sweaty, he doesn't let go. Not until the lights come up and even then it's reluctantly. They don't talk as they walk out of the theater, Kihyun is pretty certain that neither of them actually saw the movie, even though they watched it.
On the metro, crowded with people, Hoseok stands nearly pressing against Kihyun. His hand is dangerously close to one of Kihyun's and their fingers brush so many times that Kihyun know it's on purpose. Kihyun's stop is next and he turns, looking at Hoseok, who stares right back at him.
Kihyun swallows and without pulling his gaze away from Hoseok's, reaches out and takes his hand. He looks away now, around, as the train slows. No one is looking at them, and so he pulls Hoseok off with him. He hesitates, when they step off, but Hoseok's hand just slides comfortably in his and he makes no move to leave. It's a start, Kihyun thinks and when they get back to Kihyun's flat, as Hoseok is kissing him and he is kissing Hoseok back, he thinks it's actually the beginning of something new.
