I generally don't set New Year's resolutions. It's mostly because I don't feel the need to set goals I have no intention of keeping, but this year, I have several I want to work on. Here they are for anyone who cares to read them, in no particular order ( Read more... )

I hear you on the running. I am so not even a runner anymore after my last knee blowout!

I was so excited today! I ran 2 (slow) consecutive miles with Courtney and didn't have one hint of knee or foot issues during the run. I can tell my plantar fascia stretched during running, but doesn't hurt. Anyway, we might get 1-6 inches of snow today/tomorrow. I'll run in the cold, but not the snow, so I might end up taking Wed. off from running.

As far as knee problems, whatever you had/have is much worse than what I had. I hope you find satisfying exercises that don't aggravate your knee again!

I use the elliptical machine several hours a week and love it--can't go wrong with high intensity/low impact. I've tried incorporating small (really small) amounts of running into my routine lately and it's been tough on my knee. It's still too early to tell if it's a getting-back-into-it kind of discomfort or a stay-the-fuck-away-from-high-impact issue. Hopefully the former :).
