Back when the "Federation Science" touring exhibition was running in 1995-96, I was covering it for a now-dead Dallas weekly when it was set up at our Science Place. Because I was the only person in the place who could describe what science the patrons were supposed to be learning (seeing as how almost all of the interactive exhibits were designed to match Star Trek layouts first and actually demonstrating something second), I was rapidly requested by both museum staff and the volunteers to join the crowd. Considering that the museum needed such a large staff of volunteers because the cut demanded by Paramount (including a separate gift shop, full of nonreturnable Star Trek merchandise, where 20 percent of the money went straight back to the studio), I told them "Sure. Can I show up as a Vorlon?" As you can expect, I wasn't invited back.
