Ports payoff?

So Dubai Ports World has decided to drop its pursuit of the U.S. ports? (Story here).

I just have one question that I've yet to hear anyone pose:

What did we offer them in return?

This was the best possible "out" for an administration that had painted itself into a corner. I think Bush cut a deal. I wonder if we'll ever know what it was.

I'm concerned that this is just a front to get around the controversy. From the beginning people have been calling on DPW to create an American subsidiary and sell the ports to it. I'm really worried that this is going to be the case, in which case we'll be in just as much trouble (and I live right across the river from one of those ports and close to three others; the Port of New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore) but people will act like everything's ok.
