Of course, the irony behind the "basic civics test" idea is that the vast majority of Republicans probably wouldn't pass it.

After seeing some of the actual questions from the original tests on the Rachel Maddow Show I know there's no way I would have passed the tests. Hell, I probably know more about the basics of Australian civics now than I do about the U.S. system.
