I think this is an excellent meme, and intend on doing my part to spread it around.After reading your extended description of your interest in violin making, I ran across the posting of the 2005 MacArthur grant recipients. I thought you might be interested in the fact that a violin maker has been awarded money this year.

Thanks for the reference. That is indeed a happy thing. I've been trying to jumpstart my own nascent efforts with violin making, but life seems to get in the way sometimes. I'll keep at it.
Based on his blurb, Joseph Curtin seems to be what I like to see. Multidisciplinary works should become more prevalent, I think, as collaboration can only encourage growth; in mind or spirit. It's something like Metcalf's Law, where the value of a network increases proportionally with the square of the number of nodes. I revel in seeing the interfacing of art and science, engineering and nature.
