Back home...

I was gonna make two seperate posts, one about the concert and one about everything else, but since i'm much too lazy for that, i'll just briefly summarize the non-Green Day stuff and then get into the concert...

Friday: Instead of getting on the $20 bus outside of Penn Station that was gonna to take me to UAlbany where Vic was waiting to pick me up, i get on the $33.50 Greyhound bus at the port authority that took me someplace completely different. Luckily i spotted a McDonalds and Vic was able to locate me. Got to his house, smoked up, and watched South Park and Reno 911! DVDs.

Saturday: We wanted to play ball but the weather sucked and nobody came out. We wound up playing by ourselves in a light drizzle for a while before finally calling it quits. Back to the house for Reno 911! and Home Movies.

Sunday: Good weather so we were gonna play some golf. Get to the golf course but they weren't renting out clubs (they were "in the process of ordering them"). I ask if i can share clubs with Vic and they tell me no, i need my own, so that plan is shot to shit. Back to the house where we watch Napolean Dynamite.

Alright, now onto the meat and taters... Monday, April 25, 2005... The Beginning of the Post-Green Day era (A.G.D.)...

We get to the pepsi Arena at around 4:00 and wait on line for about three hours to get into our special ~floor section~ area, right by the stage (oh yeah baby!). The only thing i was pissed about was that they didn't allow cameras in the building, so i wasn't able to take advantage of the proximity and take awesome pictures. Once everyone was all packed in nice and tight like sardines, the lights dimmed and My Chemical Romance took the stage. Boy did they suck. I mean, i really like the band and all, but that performance was weak. It was about a 30 minute set, they played 6 songs starting with Helena and ending with I'm Not Okay. I couldn't make out a goddamn thing the dude was saying in any of the songs, the sound quality was horrendous. The only thing i heard clearly was when he said "Are you all ready to see Green Day!?" to which of course everyone exploded. I kinda felt bad for them, in a "getthehelloffthestageiwannaseegreenday" sorta way, but those are the breaks. After they were done, the stage was cleared, and we were entertained by a pink easter bunny chugging beer. That guy was awesome. He chugged like 2 beers and did his happy little bunny dance... it was more entertaining than MCR I think... But anyway, the lights dimmed again, Green Day took the stage, and the place went insane. To quote Vic: "Now I know what Jesus must feel like when he sees Green Day"... It was seriously like nothing i've ever experienced before... They started their set by playing American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, and Holiday, which was kinda scary because it made you think they were just gonna play through the whole album. Then the bassline from Longview started up, and all hell broke loose. I think the crazyiest it got (for me anyway) was during Hitchin' a Ride. I went absolutely apeshit, by the end of it i could barely breathe, I thought I was gonna die right there and then. At one point, Billie Joe picked three people from the audience and made a makeshift band right on stage. Not only that, the motherfuckers got to keep their instruments! Unbelievable. I swear to God, i think i would have fainted right on the spot. Of course i can still boast "BILLIE JOE MASTURBATED FIVE FEET AWAY FROM ME!" but it just doesn't have the same pizazz, ya know?... But man, i seriously can't get over how amazing they are live. They played a 2 hour set and I still wanted more. I wanted to hear them play every song they've ever written. It was just so fucking unbelievable. By the end of the night my voice was completely shot...

Here's the set list, not in the order they played them though (ripped from Vic's post):

American Idiot
Jesus Of Suburbia
Are We the Waiting
St. Jimmy
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Holiday
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Longview
Basketcase
She
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Minority
Brain Stew
Jaded
Hitchin' a Ride
King For a Day
Maria
We Are the Champions (Queen Cover)
Shout (Isley Brothers cover)
I believe there was at least one more song that neither of us can seem to remember...

Alright, i'll stop acting like an insane fangirl now haha. I'm sure you all get the point though. I had a pretty darn good time.

The whole Albany adventure ended much the way it started, with bus troubles. The bus i was gonna take back (the $20 one) was booked solid until god knows when. I didn't have enough money for a Greyhound bus, so i had to call my mom and have her order my tickets for me to get back home. Thank goodness for technology, or else I would have been stranded there forever. Buncha crazy hicks...

I think i'm done now. This post wore me out...
