Granted, no, being ambitious and career-driven isn't "whorish" by standard terms, but in a way, it is. If you look at the psych/philosophy of it, a "whore" is simply a woman who exerts her sexuality in a "masculine" way (i.e., embraces and enjoys it) rather than a "feminine" way (hides it and is ashamed of it). So, instead of exerting sexuality, she's exerting power over her destiny. But, really, it's the same idea.
(Don't mind me, I've been watching too much of The Sopranos lately.)
