sorry for the lack of updates- might have something to do with the fact that membership is so minimal right now, hehe ;) I wanted to post some things from a book I had on learning pashto but unfortunately I've left that and a whole bag of books at a friend's place =( Please feel free to post an intro if you like- mine's pretty much in my userinfo. The hardest thing for me is the very few people (outside of immediate family) to practice speaking pukhto with.

i completely agree! my dad and i spent a week with his friend's family, who had just come from Pakistan about 3months ago, and so they were very fluent in pashto. In just that week, constantly speaking to them in the language (i had no other choice), I was able to picke it up fairly easily as they'd correct me and encourage me to speak it. It almost made me more comfortable in speaking it with my own peers- something I've really missed out on as I've lived in the west most of my life.

You can read and write about it all you want, but actually interacting in the language is what really makes it easier to learn and stick. Hopefully we'll be able to do that in this lil community, inshaAllah!
