It wouldn't work nearly as well. My approach to staying informed on political issues mirrors the advice traditionally given to new legislators (at least to new American legislators; I think I've heard it on this side of the Atlantic too), which is to concentrate on being thoroughly informed about one area of policy (which for me is Defence, if anybody didn't follow the link) while trying to maintain a moderate grounding in other areas. Consequently, I don't have anywhere near as much background knowledge to make something useful out of Leveson.
Besides, the executive summary of the Leveson Report is almost as long as the entire Strategic Defence and Security Review. A brief run through the first word count program that didn't throw an error because each of the four volumes of the report are too large suggests that the full report is somewhere around a million words long.
