Dean: If the world does end in 2012, I just wanna stay in bed with my girl.
Samantha: If the world's endin', we're so not stayin' in bed.
Dean: Why not?
Samantha: Because I'm not just gonna lay there and take it.
Dean: I'd like to think of it as spendin' time with my family.
Samantha: [cups his face in her hands gently] That's sweet. [smacks the side of his face lightly] We can still do family bonding while we're tryin' to stay alive.
Dean: [smirks] Just sayin'. If it's all gonna end and we're all gonna go down together…
Samantha: We can do that and still get out of bed.
Dean: I wouldn't want the girls to be scared. Just....would want them to fall asleep.
Samantha: Uh-uh. No.
Dean: What?
Samantha: I'm not going to tell my girls it's okay to just lay down and die
Dean: And I'm not talkin' about some big movie where somehow people survive. I'm sayin' end of the world, it's all goin' down, last minutes kinda thing.
Samantha: I don't care.
Dean: [sighs]
Samantha: [stubborn look]
Dean: We can fight all we can, but at the end...I've looked death straight on, and I don't want the girls to see that.
Samantha: Everybody's gotta see it sometime, honey.
Dean: [shakes his head] Not my daughters. I'll keep them from seeing every ugly thing I can.
Samantha: And I'm not going to tell them that it's okay for them to just roll over and take it. Even if things seem like they're hopeless.
Dean: That's not how I look at it.
Samantha: Dean, you can't protect them from everything.
Dean: Watch me try.
Samantha: [slides her arms around his neck] You know Di wants to be a cop, right?
Dean: [groans]
Samantha: Yup.
Dean: Why can't she be like Ren, who wants to be a horse?
Samantha: Because she got the Flack cop gene, and your instinct to help people.
Dean: [AVOIDING] So what gene does the other one have?
Samantha: Ingenuity?
Dean: ...uh huh.
Samantha: Ren's also a little younger. She doesn't have to be practical yet.
Dean: They spend way too much time with your brother.
Samantha: [eyebrow raise] There something wrong with them spending time with my brother?
Dean: Uh, yeah. My kid wants to be a cop. Think she isn't gonna find out everything they've got on her old man?
Samantha: She knows who her old man is, Dean.
Dean: [sighs]
Samantha: Don't be so quick to assume that she'll judge you by your record. She's the one standing up to my brother all the time when it comes to you.
Dean: I didn't think she'd judge me…
Samantha: Then what're you worried about?
Dean: [shrugs] Nothin'.
Samantha: Hey. Nonna that. You talk to me.
Dean: [is quiet]
Samantha: [look] Dean.
Dean: [quiet] There's better people for her to look up to than me. [shrugs]
Samantha: No, there's not.
Dean: Yeah...there is....she's followin' your brother.
Samantha: Yeah, but she's so much like you. And if you weren't a good role model for my kids, you wouldn't even be here right now.
Dean: [nods but doesn't speak]
Samantha: [moves in closer to him, giving him a soft kiss] You're a great dad, babe. Don't ever doubt that.
Dean: Okay.
Samantha: And no more of this end of the world crap, alright? It's depressing.
Dean: Okay.
Samantha: Alright.
Dean: [kisses her forehead]
Samantha: Now you were sayin' somethin' about stayin' in bed?
Dean: [small smile] Yeah...lemme show you.
Samantha: [grin as she waits for him to do so]
