I've found that facilitating the process of discovery is the most effective means of teaching. people don't learn until they recognize a need to learn, so as teachers we create problems and tensions, asking good questions, and encouraging our students along the way - pushing them to consider something another way, etc. i often respond to questions with questions. however, there are those questions that you're unprepared for. at those times, i often simply say i don't know.

I just want to say that I SUCK at returning your calls. I am seriously so busy right now...for real. Like today, for example, it's my first free moment and it's past 10pm...and now you are asleep!
