#2- Board Games

Here is something you should know about me: I love board games!  To me, one of the funnest things to do with people is play board games, and I love when I find groups of people who agree.  It's relaxing, tends to bring out the silly in people, gives you something to focus on and talk about to avoid awkwardness, is light competition ( Read more... )

Yeah there is, but I have to say it kinda sucks.. when me and my sister played one time, we had like 5 questions about it that the instructions couldn't answer for us.

I love playing Clue with my dad because, though he's quite good at knowing how to take notes/figure things out, it's a good challenge and he gets really into it.

And Yes, drinking + board games is pretty damn awesome.

My favorite board games are the huge, complicated ones that have expansions and various rule books that you have to cross-reference, lol. Notably the Battlestar Galactica and World of Warcraft board games. I also love deck-building card games, like Ascension and Thunderstone.

My friends and I have gaming parties once a month and let me tell you, competition levels can get HIGH. Haha.

that sort of thing seems cool, in theory, but I don't know if I could handle THAT much commitment to a game.

I loooove Cranium, though I'm also a fan of most word games like Boggle or Scattergories.

The Buffy game intrigues me!

I wish my family had Boggle..I'm sure I would have played a lot of it.

It's not a very good game, but still kinda fun..

Wow, I never knew this about you! I liked board games growing up, but my family were not "gamers," so I didn't play much until I made some friends in college who loved games. Then the guy I married ended up being a game enthusiast, too, so I'm sure there are many more games in my future. :) My favorite games tend to be word games that reveal something about the players -- I can't get enough of Apples to Apples or Loaded Questions, although I'm frustrated that those games require more than three people to be really fun. I try to stay on the lookout for games that can be played with two people. I'd be happy to play a game with you sometime -- Ivan probably would be up for it, too. :) (And I agree -- thift stores are GREAT for games -- I asked for Scattergories EVERY YEAR for Christmas, but since my parents weren't into games, I never got it. I finally made that Christmas wish come true when I found it at a Goodwill. :) I buy games for my library secondhand, too. I found a Harry Potter game that is my most popular game check out at the ( ... )

That's so sad, that your family deprived you of games! I also love those big group games..didn't like Apples to Apples at first, as it's so arbitrary with no real rules, but it's really grown on me. I don't think I've ever played Loaded Questions. I think Scrabble is an excellent 2-person game. I'd (clearly) be up for playing a game. And I'll check out that site...is it mainly for video games though? Cause I'm not a video game person.

The site is geared toward geeks of many stripes -- so there are a fair amount of video-game related giveaways, but also a lot of board games, DVDs, comics, etc.
