Twitter: panning for gold in a stream of idiocy

I woke up @ 2:40 a.m., overheated. I seriously need to stop wearing lycra shirts to bed. To kill time I decided to do something I've never done before: investigate Twitter. I've read about it in Wired magazine, and have known at least one fan. Let's check it out

But.. Twitter isn't a message board. It's all individual people posting updates about their awesome lives for their friends, coworkers, and other people to read.

Work has one. We post sales and interesting things and artsy bits on it. Sort of like a mass email, only it's through a website.

People's Twitter accounts don't have to make sense to an outsider. If you read mine, you may not have any idea what's going on. But, people who are familiar with me these days might. Or would be, if I kept up on it. >>; It's not really a random "hey I think I'll go read a few Twitter pages" kinda deal.
